The Ascension of Jesus
Jesus taught his disciples that he would die, rise again, and go back to be with God the Father ( John 16:28 ). It tells us sin Acts that after his death Jesus appeared to his disciples over a period of 40 days. Acts 1:9 tell us that 'he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight- This event is called the ascension.
The ascension was significant for Jesus for 1 reason:
God exalted Jesus to the highest place. He is now the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Everything that now happens happens only through his permission. One day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
The ascension is significant for us for 2 reasons:
From heaven Jesus send us his Holy Spirit. Through the presence of his Spirit, Jesus can be with all of us, wherever we go.
The ascended Jesus is constantly praying for us. Because he loved among us and suffered, Jesus knows all our struggles. He now sit at God right hand, praying for us.
What comfort it is to know God is praying for us day by day.
